Governor Pete Ricketts issued a proclamation designating Thursday, October 17th as “International Credit Union Day” in Nebraska. Credit unions around the world are celebrating the 71st Anniversary of International Credit Union Day (ICU Day).
ICU Day is held on the third Thursday in October and has been celebrated since 1948 around the world. The day brings public awareness to not-for-profit credit unions and recognizes the extraordinary service that credit unions provide their member/owners.
The theme for this year’s celebration is: Local Service. Global Reach. This year’s theme underscores that credit unions are locally owned by their members, exist to serve their members, and credit unions are accessible worldwide.
