The Nebraska Credit Union League hosted a reception for credit unions in December with special guest Congressman Don Bacon at the Patriarch Distillery in LaVista, Nebraska. Patriarch Distillery is veteran owned and gives a portion of their sales to non-profit organizations that help veterans. Congressman Bacon served in the Air Force for nearly thirty (30) years including serving as wing commander at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue before ultimately retiring as a Brigadier General. He was first elected to Congress in 2016 and has been re-elected three times including in this year’s General Election.
During the reception, Congressman Bacon thanked those in attendance and credit unions for their strong support in his bid for re-election. The Credit Union National Association’s (CUNA) National Advocacy Fund (NAF) included his race as one of just eight hotly contested races across the Country on their list of target races. NAF spent $450,000 on an independent expenditure that included television ads, online ads, and direct mail to voters in Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District. The ads and direct mail were entirely positive in their support of Congressman Bacon. NAF is funded by voluntary corporate contributions from CUNA, Leagues across the country, credit unions, and associate business partners.
Congressman Bacon serves on the Agricultural Committee and the Armed Services Committee. The 118th Congress will convene on January 3, 2023.
