Governor Jim Pillen announced on January 12th his appointment of former Governor Pete Ricketts to fill the United States Senate seat vacated by former Senator Ben Sasse who retired to become President of the University of Florida. Senator Ricketts will serve two years and will be eligible to run for election to the seat in 2024.
Congressman Mike Flood (NE – 1) was named to serve on the important Financial Services Committee in the House of Representatives. Congressman Flood was first elected in a Special Election last summer to fill the seat vacated by former Congressman Jeff Fortenberry who resigned. Congressman Flood was elected to a full two-year term in November after defeating State Senator Patty Pansing Brooks. The Financial Services Committee is an important committee on Capitol Hill for credit unions and the League looks forward to working with Congressman Flood and his staff during the 118th Congress.
