During the League’s Annual Meeting and Convention Awards Banquet on June 7th, two credit union leaders were recognized with the highest award that a credit union professional or volunteer can receive, The Hal Allen Legislative Leadership Award. Mary Johnson, CEO of Omaha Police FCU and Jerry Barnett, retired CEO of LincOne FCU were honored with the award for their dedicated service to credit union advocacy over their respective careers. The award was created in 2010 and bears the name of its first recipient Hal Allen who was a volunteer for the University of Nebraska FCU. Previous recipients of the award include Hal Allen, Volunteer of University of Nebraska FCU; Ken Bradshaw, former CEO of Liberty First CU; Jim Cada, Volunteer of Peoples Choice FCU; Dale Springer, former CEO of Peoples Choice FCU; Stan Fraser, former CEO of Nebraska Energy FCU; and Steve Edgerton, Government Affairs Officer at Centris FCU. Recipients of the award are nominated by the League to be inducted into the Credit Union House Hall of Leaders in Washington D.C.
Additionally, several credit unions were recognized for their outstanding support of CULAC, the PAC of Credit Unions.
